This hormone stimulates the stem cells which are present in the bones marrow to increase the production of the red blood cells.
Bone marrow is a substance which is present in the long bones of an adult human being.
When there is decrease in oxygen, the interstitial cells of kidneys are capable pf detecting the decreased amount of oxygen in blood level, and thus stimulates the hormone called Erythropoietin.
