Especially when removing tangles, comb carefully. Apply Vaseline, oil, or wet hair with alcohol if the hair is severely tangled; this process takes time, patience, and competence.

Alternatively, let the hair flow down while holding the ends with ribbon, tape, or rubber bands assemble all used items.
