A hunch implies that something is about to happen. This is done by showing certain events, people, or information that hints at what happens later in the story. A hunch occurs whenever a future event is or is hinted at in some way early in the story.
Future events are sometimes mentioned early in the story, such as comments about character encounters. Readers already know that the topic will be discussed later.
Presence shows something repeated. For example, in a western movie, a man walks into a bar, has a drink, and leaves. The villain grimaces and spits on the ground.
Growing Concern is also used to announce events. Children have left home and parents are unduly worried about them. The child told his parents not to worry and that everything would be fine. The reader will take this concern as a harbinger of impending danger.
