Norming of intelligence and achievement tests are done in order to compare the data among large groups.
Under this system, a test is given to large groups of people spread over a large area in order to compare the results. The resulting results provide the norms, or referential scores, by which to analyze future scores. Norms are the expectations of what the group should know instead it is a demonstration of what that group does know. So it checks the intelligence of the group.
Under testing, both norms and standardization were used and are being used even today. Standardizing and norming the test helps to ensure that the new scores are reliable. This test was provided by Terman. This was given in the year 1916. This new version of the test was named the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale. Astonishingly, an updated version of this test is still widely used today.
