The author uses pathos to further his argument in order to shame the audience into believing that they can be lazy workers.
The author appeals to the value of the audience by saying, "Others simply do not care." In this way, the author appeals to the audience's emotions by using such words that the audience is engrossed in what is being said. Pathos is a rhetorical device that can be used in an argument to help draw the audience in and to help it connect with the argument. In this case, being that the people just don't care and so have become lazy workers.
Relying too much on pathos, though, will not work to pass the message that we want to. By using pathos the author wants the audience to feel the same emotions that the author feels. This is because the author wants the audience to emotionally bond with him. If the author uses low pathos the audience is likely to find mistakes in his arguments.
