Bacteria is the type of organism that will form endospores when faced with unfavorable environmental conditions.

The formation of endospores is usually triggered by a lack of nutrients which usually occurs in Gram-positive bacteria. In the process of endospore formation, the bacterium divides within the cell wall, and one side then makes engulfs the other. Endospores make bacteria stay lie dormant for extended long periods even after decades.

There are some seed-like formations produced within the bacteria which are as highly resistant, designed to make sure survival, and want to preserve genetic viability which is under environmental stress as it is an unfavorable condition.

The endospore allows the bacterium to produce a highly resistant as well as dormant cell to preserve the genetic material of cells in times of extreme stress conditions. Endospores can withstand environmental assaults that would likely kill the bacterium.
