Respuesta :
Sodium and glucose are transported together from the intestinal lumen into an intestinal cell .the carrier protein is a symport and the process is called cotransport .
What is symport ?
it is a type of transport in which two different molecules can move in same direction through the membrane using a common carrier mechanism .
one example of symport is moving glucose up to its concentration gradient with the help of the energy from the movement of sodium ions that are moving down their concentration gradient .
What is cotransport ?
the movement of two different substance across the membrane is called as cotransport . cotransporter are membrane transport proteins that couple the favorable movement of one molecule with its concentration gradient and unfavorable movement of another molecule against its concentration gradient .
Intestinal lumen :
it is surrounded by other part of the intestinal wall : the mucosa, the submucosa , the muscularis and the serosa .
the main role of lumen is to transport the air ,blood , fluids , food and other substances inside the body .
it is the opening inside the bowels .
