Significant digits refers to the number of important single digits from 0 through to 9  in the coefficient of an expression in scientific notation.

Some rules of significant digits are;

  • Non-zero digits are significant
  • Zeros that occur between any two non- zero digits are significant. For
  • All zeros that are on the right of a decimal point and also to the left of a non-zero digit is never significant

We can see that the zeros are between two non- zero digits and are thus significant.
