Answer- Each book was three dollars.

Explanation-

We started with 12 dollars and who are certain that 4 dollars were spent.

12-4 is 8. This means with these eight dollars we spent 6 of the dollars.

8-2 is 6. If both of the books cause the same price we must divide 6 into 2 and that means that both books were 3 dollars.

________________________________________________________

Solution-

The variable "B" represents the dollars spent for one book. I decided to represent the books by using the letter B.

Equation would be 4+2+2b=12

My solution is B=3.  4 and 2 is 6.  12 minus 6 is 6 left over, which means that we have to divide 6 by 2. That equals 3. This means each book cost three dollars.

HOPE THIS HELPS GOOD LUCK!
