  • Length of piece 1 = x
  • Length of piece 2 = (x + 18) cm

Total = length 1 + length 2

94 = x + (x + 18)

94 = x + x + 18

84 = 2x + 18

  • subtract 18 from both sides

84 - 18 = 2x

66 = 2x

  • divide both sides by 2

x = 66/2

x = 33 cm

Therefore,

Length of piece 1 = x

= 33 cm

Length of piece 2 = (x + 18) cm

= (33 + 18)

= 51 cm
