Green: Punalu'u Beach on Hawaii's Big Island.

Papaklea Beach, one of the only four green coastlines in the earth, is found on Hawaii's Big Island. The green olivine crystals left over from an old volcanic cinder cone give the sand in this area its peculiar color.

It is outside Naalehu, a little settlement halfway between South Point and Volcanoes National Park . Along Highway 11, the beach is about two hours south of Kailua-Kona. Its sand-green tint makes it simple to identify.

It is possible to swim in the green sand beach, however the notorious southern shore's surf is extremely fierce. A lifeguard is not present. Both the trailhead and the beach are without services.
