d. Albany
In the 1750s, when conflicts in the Ohio River valley threatened to spread into a large war with France, Britain’s Board of trade instructed its colonies to coordinate plans for defending the empires holdings and to strengthen their alliance with the Iroquois league. Accordingly, in the summer of 1754, seven colonies sent delegates to a convention in Albany, which was selected because of its traditional role as the site of the covenant chain negotiations between New York and the Mohawk. The Albany convention marked an unprecedented affirmation of the common interests of different societies within Britain’s growing empire.
