Russian president Vladimir Putin said that Russia launched 12 recent missile strikes across Ukraine targeting the country’s energy system.
In the ongoing Russia- Ukraine war which has reached an eight-month mark in October 2022, Russia had deliberately targeted Ukraine’s energy system in a series of missile strikes across the country as a reaction to an attack on the Kerch bridge connecting Russia and Crimea, according to the Russian president Vladimir Putin. Russian forces fired a dozen of cruise missiles at Ukraine’s power infrastructure causing massive electricity blackouts with about 1.5 million households left without electricity (according to Ukrainian authorities). According to Ukrainian President, most of Russian missiles and drones have been shot down.
