As we did in the previous case, we are going to compare the sides of the figures to decide on the dilation factor.

Notice that in this case, it is mor complex to measure the long sides of the parallelograms, because they don't lay along the grid. But we can use the shorter sides since they coincide with the vertical grid.

We notice that the black shape has a short side of a total of 6 units, and the blue shape (result of the dilation has a short side thatmeasures 3 units.

Therefore the side of the image divided the side of the original shape goes as:

image / original = 3 / 6 = 1/2

Therefore this time the "dilation" has a scale factor of "1/2" and therefore is "reducing" the original image.

The scale factor of the dilation is: "1/2"
