What is preeclampsia ?

The arteries that supply blood to the placenta are impacted by preeclampsia. The infant might not get enough blood, oxygen, or nutrients if the placenta doesn't get enough blood. This may result in foetal growth restriction, or delayed growth, preterm delivery.

  • Pre-eclampsia is thought to develop when there is a problem with the placenta, the organ that connects the baby's blood supply to the mother's. However, the exact cause of pre-eclampsia is unknown.

  • During prenatal checkups, your doctor can diagnose preeclampsia by taking your blood pressure and examining your urine. Depending on how far along in the pregnancy you are and how severe the preeclampsia may be, many therapies are available.
