Some ways environment can change the choices we make are:
- Temperate environment will make us choose thick clothing to wear and the type of housing structure to build to fight off cold.
- A hot climate will influence us in choosing cold drinks and light clothing.
Geography studies the interaction of humans and the environment.
The environment one finds him or herself plays a major role in the type of lifestyle choices they make. For example:
- Clothing: People who live in the temperate region will chose thick cloths to buy and wear to prevent them against intense cold. So also, people in hot environment will opt for light clothing.
- Housing: The type of housing found in the temperate regions are different from those found in environment where the climate is hot in most times of the year. Environment influences the type of building constructed. The one in the temperate region would be built to protect one from cold.
- Food and drinks: Certain weather in an environment encourages the cultivation of some food crops. Also, someone in a warm climate will want to prefer taking cold drinks.
The study of Geography centers on the interaction of humans with their environment, hence, the connection between humans and their environment is relevant or central to the study of geography.
