He is seen to have overstayed his visit. Anytime Jones made a move to leave, a member of the family told him to stay a little bit more. He was afraid to say no to them.

We see here that Jones ended up being afraid to refuse their request. It is recorded that after a month, the angels decided that his stay in that place was over and he died. He was in much agony before he died.
