It is never a good idea to water house plants with salty water. The plants would most likely die depending on how much of the solution is used. How would salt water most likely effect plant cells?.

Respuesta :

Plants are affected by salt water in accordance with the osmosis principle. Through the process of osmosis, water moves through a semi-permeable membrane from one region with a high concentration of solvent to another with a low concentration of solute (cell membrane of living cells).

An osmotic gradient, which forms the basis of flow during osmosis, is created when salt water is added to the soil containing the plants. The soil becomes hypertonic, or has a higher concentration of solute than the plant cells, as a result of the salt water. Due to the fact that the plant cell contains more water than the soil, water transfers from the plant cell into the soil as a result, causing the plant cell to lose water and eventually wither or shrink.
