Social status is a social value possessed by people relative to one another in society. It measures the level of status in terms of honors, respect, competence, and deference determining superiority and inferiority in the social structure called society. It includes people's profession, clothing attire, schools or colleges and the grouping they are in decides their level of prestige and privileges in society.
