Jacobin Club ( Jacobins ) was the most famous political group of the French Revolution ( 1789 - 99 ). After the overthrow if the monarchy they split into 2 groups: the Mountains ( Montagnards ) and the Girondins. The Mountains were the most radical group. The Girondins were a moderate political fraction and opponents of the Mountains.
