The way that conquest helped Islam to spread was by the caliphates established, conquering large territories and converting a lot of people there to Islam.

What benefit was conquest to the spread of Islam?

When Islam was first started, the way that it was able to spread so quickly was thanks to military conquest of several regions around the Middle East, North Africa, and parts of Europe. After the death of Muhammed, Abu Bakr established the Rashidun Caliphate  which was able to spread further than Arabia.

Then the Umay-yad Caliphate  was established that spread across Northern Africa, parts of the Levant, and even Europe with the invasion and conquest of Tours. With the Muslims in political control of these areas, they were able to convert people to Islam and so Islam spread at an unprecedented rate which then continued thanks to trade.
