The Supreme Court said that the Federal government did not have the capacity to punish civil rights violators.

In the time between 1850 and 1900, a series of constitutional amendments and acts were enacted to give newly freed slaves rights.

In doing so, the government was able to give these individuals access to the justice system if their rights were violated.

The most influential supreme court  in the land helped to set the tone on how Americans and Africans would be treated by the law and other citizens because of its final decisions in these mayor cases.
