Given that;

  • P( passing both test ) = 25%
  • P( passing the first test ) = 42%
  • P( passing second test ) = ?

To determine the percentage of the students who passed the first test and also passed the second test.

P( passing the first test ) × P( passing second test ) = P( passing both test )

42% × P( passing second test ) = 25%

P( passing second test ) = 0.25/0.42

P( passing second test ) = 0.595 × 100%

P( passing second test ) = 59.5% ≈ 60%

Therefore, given the percentage of the students that passed the both test and first test only,  the percentage of students who passed the first test and also passed the second test is 60%.
