It can be observed that there are lesser gas molecules in higher altitudes than in the lower ones because the gas molecules are also somehow pulled down by gravity. When there are fewer gas molecules, the pressure in the atmosphere is lesser compared to that inside of the plastic bag. Thus, there is a tendency for the plastic bag to burst.
