In Mexico, the group of people who controlled the government were called the ( peninsular). The (criollos) had positions of wealth and influence in society. The revolution for independence from Spain was started by a priest named (Miguel Hidalgo). Agustin de Iturbide declared Mexico independent and established a(Monarchy). He was overthrown just a year later.

The group of people that are in charge of government in Mexico are regarded as Peninsulares.

  • Peninsulares can be regarded as Spaniards , these set of people come to New world around 17th century.

  • They serve as social structure set up in a colonial order which controls the government in Mexico.

Therefore, Peninsulares controls the government activities.
