States rights are the law that the 13 states made to run their administration It contains federalist principles.it consist of many rights such as right to own slave.
What is States Rights?
The state rights was an old concept of 1860s. The 13 separated colonies of america developed their own rules and regulation i.e the Constitution to run their countries and ignored the abroad rules.
The southern states wanted to freely exercise their authority over the federal government in order to remove all the federal laws they don't support or agree to such as law related to antebellum southerner rights to keep their own slaves .
Therefore it can be said that antebellum southerners states rights prime motive was right to own slaves .
