You have to realize that sugar won't 'naturally' enter in a Cell, so Osmosis and Simple Diffusion (Both are 'natural processes which there is no energy consume) won't be able to bring sugar inside the cell. So it's going to be necessary SPENT energy to bring this sugar. Remember that always that something is not 'spontaneous', it's going to be necessary to use energy to do it.
