Santa Claus is undoubtedly deceased. The tomb of the first Santa Claus, also known as St. Nicholas, was reportedly found by archaeologists in southern Turkey beneath his namesake cathedral close to the Mediterranean Sea.
St. Nicholas: A monk even by title of St. Nicholas is credited with initiating the Santa Claus fable thousands of years ago. Nicholas is thought to have been born sometime during the year 280 in Patara, a city in modern-day Turkey, close to Myra.
St. Nicholas died suddenly on December 6, in either 343 or 345 or 352, although the exact date is unclear. His remains were taken from Turkey in 1087 by a group of Italian merchant sailors.
