In a circle whose radius is 10 cm, a chord is 6 cm from the center. How long is the chord?
Please Explain your answer fully, thanks!

Respuesta :

The length of the chord = 2(sqrt(10^2 - 6^2))
= 2(sqrt (100 - 36))
= 2(sqrt (64))
= 2(8)
= 16cm

The attached pic should put things into perspective hopefully

Answer:

The length of the cord is 16 cm

Explanation:

Use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for one side. Once that is solved that side will equal 8. But that’s only half the length of the cord. So multiply that by 2 to get 16 cm long.
