The Mardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday" in French, which refers to the deep French relationship between this festival and New Orleans City. The Mardi Gras tradition can be traced back to medieval Europe, which can also be called "Boeuf Gras" or "fat calf", which means people will eat fatty food on that day before Easter. This traditional festival developed from Italy to France in the 17th century, then brought the Mardi Gras celebration tradition to the French colony in North America, the state of Louisiana. At this social party, the queen (usually young women between the ages of 18 and 21) and the king (an older member of Krewe) from Krewes will appear on a float during the parade.
