There is a basic difference, because mass is the actual amount of material contained in a body and is measuredin kg, gm, etc. Whereas weight is the force exerted by the gravity on that object mg. Note that mass is independent of everything but weight is different on the earth
Mass is a coherent, typically large body of matter with no definite shape. Weight is a body's relative mass or the quantity of matter contained by it, giving rise to a downward force; the heaviness of a person or thing. You can measure mass using a balance. Weight is measured with a scale.
