Douglas looked down upon native american(this was during a time where slavery was still going on) and said that he would deny any black folk as his brother, he would not work with them and neither should anyone else. He basically just made blacks sound terrible and then said if Lincoln is elected then they will be considered our equal; this is saying you will be on the same level as slaves(this was offensive back then). He said is want black citizenship, if you desire to let them settle with white men, then vote for Lincoln.
Douglas also says that is Lincoln is elected, there will be no slaves what so ever and white men will have to do all the work(this was unacceptable and unheard of in these days). He said that slavery held the country together and they couldn't live without it; Lincoln would take that away from then.
