- Charles I ruled without Parliament for 11 years (1629-1640): The 3rd Parliament was very concern about the rights granted in the Petition of Right and the fact that Charles I did not obey it. So the King decide to dissolve the Parliament and arrest 9 political leaders.
- Charles I convened Parliament to raise taxes to crush a revolt in Scotland (1640): It was known as Short Parliament because it lasted only three weeks.
