The causes of each war were very similar. World war 1 started because of militarism, alliances, imperialism and nationalism. The immediate cause was the assassination of the Arch Duke. World war 2 started for the same reason just with a different immediate cause. Many say the immediate cause was Germany's invasion of Poland.
