All of the phrases are describing Lugenia Burns Hope.
She was born in 1871 in St. Louis, Missouri. All along her life, she was an activist for African-American rights, who participated in the creation and administration of importan civil rights organizations, like the Neighborhood Union for African Americans in Atlanta and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People of Atlanta, of which she was vice-president.
In 1897, she married John Hope, also an African-American activist. She died in Tennessee, in 1947.
