It would be economically helpful to farmers because then the farmers won't have to be as worried about their trees dying from the disease. While without the resistance the farmers would have to factor in the profit loss of pine trees dying from the disease now with the resistance gene it would reduce the profit loss. So it would be fairly helpful economically to the farmers.
