Latin America has been facing extreme poverty and is still seeking ways to improve the situation through poverty alleviation programs. There is also the issue of drug trafficking, thus drug cartels have become powerful and wealthy, and there are refugee crises going about.

The American War on Drugs has fueled the violence and poverty individuals, families, and children must endure or escape just to survive in Latin America. The region will never attain full political and socio-economic stability until the US changes its policies at home.
In Colombia, 15,000 people were murdered in a 20-year war against cartels, and the Mexican government’s war against cartels has resulted in more than 120,000 Mexican deaths and disappearances since 2006.
