When Huck was a little, he was kidnapped by his own father named Pap who wants his $600. Huck gets that money from the treasure that he and Tom Sawyer found in the story of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. He had to fake his own death to escape from his father. Huck finally managed to escape, find a canoe that he used to raft down the Mississippi river. On his way, he met Jim, Miss Watson’s slave. They together spent day after day rafting down the river.
The character of Huck’s father, Pap, is a person who wants to take advantage of his son. Thus, he is so afraid that Huck is smart. In the story, Pap says that he believes that education will make Huck feel superior which then reveals his true character.
