A rectangle with a perimeter of 102 inches is half as wide as it is long. Write and solve an equation to determine the length of this rectangle in inches.

let width be x  inches so the length will be 2x inches.
so we have 
2*2x + 2x = 102
6x = 102
x= 17  


so the length = 2x = 2*17 = 34 inches

One side is 17 inches and the tother is 34

So you could use   

2(x) + 2(y) = 102

x=7  y=32
