  • Since the commas are separating the different color of flowers in each plant, it would be confusing to put commas between the different plants. This is why semi-colons are used to separate the different plants.

I arranged my schedule so that I have study hall first thing in the morning on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

  • A comma is needed between each day of the week.

Because Shira could sing, dance, and act, she decided to audition for the school’s annual spring musical.

  • A comma is needed to separate the list of things Shira can do and also at the end to separate a new idea from the list.
