so first, you'd multiply $13.89 and $4.45 by the same number, i chose 9 because its just one of the answer, and you'd add $85 to what you got for the $4.45 one

13.89 x 9 = 125.01
4.45 x 9 = 40.05 +85 = 125.05

these answers are only about four cents apart... which is close enough for C to be the right choice
