"Life can't be lived forever in your comfort zone; sometimes, you have to be challenged" - My own quote. Anyway, so I'm assuming that this is an order of operations worksheet. If thats the case, remember PEMDAS. In #3, you would do multiplication first, so you would have 2*x which equals 2x. Now your equation is 2x - 1/3 = 1/6. Next step would be to add 1/3 to both sides so you are left with only your x variable on one side and numbers on the other. 1/3 + 1/6 would equal 3/6, or 1/2, because when you multiply 1/3 by 2/2 to make it have 6 in the denominator you get 2/6. 2/6 + 1/6 equals 3/6, or 1/2. Next, you would divide 2 on both sides. 1/2 divided by 2 gives you 0.25 because dividing by a number means multiplying by its reciprocal. Another way to write 2 is 2/1. If you flip this number around, you get the reciprocal, 1/2. 1/2 multiplied by 1/2 is equal to 0.25. So x = 0.25 is your answer.

Hope this helps.
[tex]2x- \frac{1}{3}= \frac{1}{6} \\ \\ 2x= \frac{1}{6}+ \frac{1}{3} \\ \\ 2x= \frac{1}{6}+ \frac{2}{6} \\ \\ 2x= \frac{3}{6} = \frac{1}{2} \\ \\ x= \frac{1}{2}:2= \frac{1}{2}* \frac{1}{2}= \frac{1}{4} [/tex]

Answer: x=1/4
