The 15 departments are service organizations of the federal government. The people responsible for these departments called as Secretaries are assigned by the President. The following are the agencies; State, Treasury, Defense, Justice, Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, HHS, HUD, Transportation, Energy, Education, Vet. Affairs and Homeland Security.
