The length of a rectangle is 2 in longer than its width. if the perimeter of the rectangle is 44 in , find its area.

P = 2(L + W)
P = 44
L = W + 2

44 = 2(W + 2 + W)
44 = 2(2W + 2)
44 = 4W + 4
44 - 4 = 4W
40 = 4W
40/4 = W
10 = W

L = W + 2
L = 10 + 2
L = 12

A = L * W
L = 12
W = 10

A = 12 * 10
A = 120 square inches <===

the are of the rectangle would be 120 bcause the perimeter is 44 and the lenght is 2in bigger then the width and 10+10+12+12=44  so if you do length times width you get  12*10=12
