The colony of Georgia was very prosperous under British rule, thus the ruling class was satisfied with remaining a colony of the Kingdom of Great Britain. The working class believed they needed protection from possible native raids. However, many people (working class, and upper class opportunist) wanted to become independent. This caused a "civil war" in Georgia. "Radicals" on both side fought for the Crown and others as "patriots"
