The government built off those idea to write the DoI. Without those, the government would probably be the same as England's.

John Locke was a philosopher and a political theorist of the 17th century in England. John Locke's three natural rights 'life, liberty, estate' influenced government to put forth in the Declaration of independence. Locke theory suggests that all people are equal in the eyes of God and they have the right to live that cannot be taken by anyone. Locke also states that people should be free to make choices about how to manage their own lives as long as they do not intervene with others. Locke theory about the property meant that property or land can be owned by individuals and can be sold or taken away by the government under certain circumstances.
