HELP!!!!!
Rachel has $17.78 for a cab ride. There is an initial fee of $6.13 with a $2.06 charge for every mile traveled. This situation is modeled by the equation 2.06m + 6.13 = 17.78, where m represents the number of miles traveled.
How many miles can Rachel travel? (round to the nearest tenth of miles traveled)

Respuesta :

Hi!

2.06m + 6.13 = 17.78

First subtract 6.13 from both sides
2.06m + 6.13 - 6.13 = 17.78 - 6.13
2.06m = 11.65

Divide by 2.06 on both sides
2.06m/2.06 = 11.65/2.06
m = 5.7

Rachel can travel 5.7 miles.

Hope this helps! :)
2.06m+6.13=17.78
2.06m -6.13 -6.13
_______________
2.06m + 0 = 11.65
(Divide both sides by 2.06 thier was no division sign)
_______________
M = 5.6 (rounded)

5.6 miles
