In the Upper Paleolithic ie from about 50,000-10,000 years ago, the art was mainly cave paintings, petroglyphs, bone and ivory carvings and engravings. Tools included projectile points, engraving tools, and knife blades for example. Some magnificent cave paintings have been discovered in some of the caves of this time, especially of apparently game animals..

These timeline is one that took place before the time of 40,000 BCE. In the course of the Lower Paleolithic period, studies has shown that humans created tools by flaking and also the chipping flint pebbles into blades and building of scrapers with sharp edges.

The crude tools can be seen in the time of Lower and Middle phases and they were not seen as art and they were said to be intended for other purposes such as hunting.
