If the appellate court remands a case, it is most likely because they are unable to determine the final outcome of the case between the parties. To remand is to send back the case to the inferior court for further proceedings or may be for a new trial. This may be because of procedural error in the inferior court which they have noted so they cannot determine the final outcome of the case.
