As she looked at her reflection, she reflected on the nickname her classmates gave her, and on how disappointed her parents would be if they found out.

Julia had always been proud of her Dominican heritage, but now she felt that she needed to blend in with these American students to fit in. So, she tried to hide her heritage and even wished for a different name.
